A Christmas Gift Idea
It's that time of year when we rack our brains as to what to give that person who has everything. Well, here is my annual, somewhat self-serving suggestion.
A maintenance free water filter is a gift which will benefit the receiver with better than bottled water, potable water for years to come. Yes, we do sell them on this site, and at the best prices around.
These are a wonderful value and keep on giving. What is more appropriate as a gift?

Direct TV Takes Up to 8 Weeks to Correct Banking Error
Direct TV Customer Service stated today that funds sent to them in an inadvertent error, directed to a dormant account via Electronic Fund Transfer, will take up to eight weeks to return to Washington Mutual Bank.
On July 25th I sent funds, by mistake, to a closed Direct TV account. The funds moved in under 30 minutes of the error. Direct TV claims it takes them six to eight weeks to refund and return these funds.
We have even contacted the President of Direct TV, Chase Carey, via email at chase.carey@directv.com, with no reply as yet, reported by Stephen Betheil.

Vacation in New York City
For those who missed my blog, I have been on vacation in New York City, as it was my wife's and my Anniversary, and an opportunity to visit with friends and family.
We saw the 2008 Tony Award Best Play, "August: Osage County," a play lasting three hours with two intermissions, which keeps you so involved you want to see more. Needless to say, if you have the opportunity, this is a must see performance.
We also got to catch the JVC Jazz Festival, at Carnegie Hall, and a marvelous performance by Diana Reeves. Also performing, was Al Green, who put on a most unexpectedly enthusiastic and exciting performance.
We ate at the Carnegie Delicatessen, had Junior's Cheese Cake and shopped at Zabar's. All truly New York experiences.
We also got to visit our previous home in Clarksburg, NJ, and the upper west side of Broadway where my wife spent her childhood.
Still, it is good feeling to return to Oregon.
So, next week, I will resume posting about water issues, reported by Stephen Betheil, Water Secrets Blog.

The Best Place to Buy a Used Car
As readers of this blog may know, I live in Oregon. My elderly mother, however lives in New Jersey, and needed a car.
After consulting Consumer Reports, I started looking online for a used, 1998 Honda Civic. I looked at about 50 cars, and settled one not far from my mother's home, and ran a Carfax report on it.
Used car salesmen that are honest, caring and go far beyond where they need to get a sale are rare, but I certainly found one, and want to share that with you, my readers. Al not only prepared the car, offered a fair price for it, but delivered it to my mother's home, and spent time with her to go over all the features of it, and took a test drive with her. He also is getting all that registration with the motor vehicle authority done for her. He made it easy for me to buy this vehicle long distance.
So, here is the information on how to reach what I consider the best place to purchase a used car in New Jersey is:
Sea Bay Auto Sales
894 Route 9 North
Little Egg Harbor Twp., NJ 08087
Tel. 877-736-8315
Contact: Al

Why I have not been publishing
Well, I thought I owed it to my readers of this blog to explain why I have not been publishing any new posts in so long. First, we have completely rebuilt and upgraded our computer system here to better serve our customers, and have done all of the work in-house.
Secondly, on a more personal basis, I have been doing some extensive renovation to part of my own home here, and doing all that work myself as well.
So, as you should understand, I have simply not had the time to devote to publishing as often and won't be back to normal until my renovation is completed, which should be by the beginning of May.

New Novel with the World Water Crises as a Subplot
Today I received a comment here concerning a new book, "H2O", by the author Mark Swartz. The novel takes place in Chicago in the year 2020, which has found the world wide water crises hitting that city hard.
With no tap water, Chicago finds Lake Michigan toxic, and the rest of the world no better off. In the book, Hayden Shivers, a filter engineer with Drixa, a water tech mega corporation, discovers, what he thinks is a way of synthesizing water.
It is my belief that this novel, will remain entertaining fiction, as there now exists the technology to deliver potable water to all of the world. Apparently what the world lacks is either the will or the funds to make it happen.

Blogsite information some of you can use.
It has become apparent to me that some readers of my blog here do not understand that leaving a comment for me, does not tell me how to contact anyone with reply. All it does is to allow me to post a reply on the blog.
If you want me to respond to you directly, you must use the "contact us" section of our website http://orderwaterfilters.com Sorry for having to post this, but I am just trying to help.

Sometimes I Want to Toot My Own Horn
At Water Filters R Us,Inc. we publish this blog, and do business at http://orderwaterfilters.com. In both endevours we make an effort to share with the public our years of experience in the water filtration business, and the knowlege of that industry that we had gained.
Sometimes, we actually get some recognition for doing that, and today that happened and I felt like sharing that with everyone.
It seems we got an inquiry from an individual concering his water quality as he lived in the Phoenix, AZ area, which I have written about on here before.
I managed to impart a fair amount of information to this customer, and for my efforts got something more meanful to me than an order for a water filter.
The customer wrote the following: "Thank you for your detailed help and excellent products. I appreciate good service like this and it is another plus for your company."
Well, all I can say is we certainly appreciate comments like that.

Stephen Betheil has accepted a position as an IT reseller
In addition to running this website and business, I have accepted a position as a licensed reseller of Smart Talk Pro/Virtual Office Meeting. This new technology greatly improves and simplifies web casting. Moreover, through the integration of VOIP, or voice over internet protocol, the cost of web casting is now reduced by over 300 percent to a starting point less than the ownership of a business copy machine. This opens web casting up to all small businesses and even consumers.
Those interested in learning more about this may contact me through this site, orderwaterfilters.com.

Block Island Fertility was a Joke!
Well this blogger, along with a host of sydicated news organizations was fooled apparently by an April fools day joker.
My post of April 7th, Iland's Water Raises Fertility Rates, pulled from the Block Island News, was a hoax. This blogger got an email stating so from the author. Well with egg on my face for being duped, I now publish this. Sorry for being taken in.

Internet Explorer has unreported vulnerabilty
I found out the hard way. It seems when ever I posted a blog here, someone somehow inserted links without me knowing. It turns out that very possibly I was the only one viewing these links that I could not eradicate.
My own copy of Microsoft Internet Explorer I discovered was the culprit. It seems that all the downloaded security updates from Microsoft, nor a regularly updated virus scan, nor a sophisticated firewall could prevent an unscrupulous person from invading my publishing efforts.
One of these culprits is revealed, as every time I would write "water filters", the link that appeared took you to Best Filters, Fayetteville, AR, a high priced competitor of my site.
Interesting as in my last blog I mentioned greedy water filter suppliers.
Please all users of Internet Explorer beware of this vulnerablity issue.

RSS: syndication and aggregation
We've now added RSS to this weblog. What's RSS?
It's a radio signal for a website, most commonly used for weblogs. More technically: "Rich Site Summary (RSS) is a lightweight XML format designed for sharing headlines and other Web content. Think of it as a distributable "What's New" for your site." See Intro to RSS for more info.
The Newspaper Association of America site has an informative article titled Syndication Made Simple. "Just as free e-mail newsletters enable publishers to directly reach readers and promote online and in-paper content, RSS "pushes" headlines and succinct, one-sentence article descriptions to those who subscribe to the no-cost feeds."
The other side of syndication is aggregation. Here's an article from Wired News that explains why aggregators are all the rage: Aggregators Attack Info Overload.
Lastly, here's the Wikipedia citation for RSS.

This icon is the cue that we're RSS capable. So train your aggregator to grab content from the Water Filters R Us syndicated weblog. The live link is on the top right of the weblog page.
